Pro Bowl XI Championship Match (Week 16):
New team champions: No. 2 seed Victorious
Secret became the 2009 Pro Bowl team champions when they defeated
No. 4 seed The Supernovas by a strong 18 Point margin
in the Pro Bowl final. Victorious Secret became the first
Pro Bowl team in club history to win championships in
back-to-back seasons. The team formed in 2008 and quickly
established themselves as a serious threat by going undefeated
in the first nine games that they ever played. And
now that they have repeated as champions, Victorious
Secret have put themselves into the conversation and can
make a strong argument that they are the greatest Pro
Bowl team of all time. Of course, some other teams out there
might disagree, but nobody can deny what they have accomplished.
Victorious Secret has been in existence for
two years and they have two Pro Bowl titles. If
this team should return next year, there will probably be a lot of
other unhappy teams out there who will be running scared.
To break down how Victorious Secret won this match
over 2006 champions The Supernovas, we start with team
captain Nighthawk. Nighthawk stepped up his game in
this crucial match, as any team captain should do when
there is so much on the line. And Nighthawk will always
be remembered for that, because where other team captains
have failed, he delivered. In this critical week, he
stepped up and won an MVP Award with 24 Points.
That was a great start for Victorious Secret, but fellow original
team member Dark Knight also delivered. Dark Knight
came forward and produced the Runner-Up MVP Award
with 21 Points. Add to that 2009 Super Bowl Champion
Bob Swerski's 19 Points, and it's easy to see why Victorious
Secret was victorious. All team members clearly
realized that the secret to winning was to post huge numbers. So
congratulations to Victorious Secret on their great victory.
As for The Supernovas, well they had a nice run to the
final. Nobody in the club, and I mean nobody, expected
them to knock off the top seeded Daddy & His Boys in the
Final Four. But they did. And so while this
loss may be bitter for them to swallow, they can hang up their cleats
and hold their heads high until next season.

What's at stake: A spot in The Football Club
Hall of Fame as the 2009 Pro Bowl Champions.
Pro Bowl Tournament history: This season's
Pro Bowl championship game promises to be one of the most interesting
match-ups we have ever seen. Before we analyze
this epic match, we want to take a moment to pay tribute to the two
great teams who lost in the Final Four-- Daddy &
His Boys and Wild Animals. Both of these teams are very well
respected in the club and were hoping to add championship
trophies to winning seasons they have had in the past.
But it was not to be, as 2006 champions The Supernovas
defeated 2000 & 2007 champions Daddy & His Boys and 2008
champions Victorious Secret defeated 2005 champions Wild
Animals. So as we bid farewell to the great efforts put
forth by the two teams who lost, let us now look ahead
to this upcoming historic showdown between The Supernovas
and Victorious Secret. Both teams have something
significant in common-- they both have been in existence for 2 years
and they both won championships during their first year
together. The Supernovas (consisting of long time friends from
Novato-- Camp Singletary, Fearless Tuna & The Rickster)
formed in 2006 to play together. It worked out very well, as
The Supernovas set The Football Club all-time record
for most wins in a season by going 13-2 in route to becoming
champions. In fact, it worked out so well that
The Supernovas disbanded the following year to try new challenges.
The story of Victorious Secret is much the same, except
for the disbanding part, as they set a club record in 2008 by
going undefeated in their first 9 games. That's
right, I said they went UNDEFEATED in their first 9 GAMES!! That's
one
record which I'm quite sure will never be broken.
What makes the accomplishment even more amazing, is that during
the record-setting run, Victorious Secret were defeating
teams like Wild Animals and Daddy & His Boys. Victorious
Secret went on to win the Pro Bowl championship and stuck
together this year, adding new member Bob Swerksi after
the retirement of a former member last season.
With both teams being in existence for 2 years, it's somewhat easy to
compare them. The Supernovas have a lifetime record
of 20 wins and 7 losses, while Victorious Secret have a lifetime
record of 17 wins, 7 losses, and 3 ties. If you
think about it, a tie is a match that would be a win instead if 1 more
Point
had been scored. Thus, Victorious Secret is only
3 Points away from having the same exact 20-7 record as The Supernovas.
And what happened when these two teams collided in the
regular season this year? Looking back, they only played
one match against each other, with Victorious Secret
defeating The Supernovas 60-55. A five Point victory is all that
separates these two teams from each other. This
tells me that anything can happen in this match. Also, if you look
back
at the Pro Bowl Tournament, Victorious Secret had a higher
score in the First Round, while The Supernovas had a higher
score in the Final Four. My best projection is
that this match will be settled by less than 5 Points. May
the best team
win their 2nd Pro Bowl Championship!
