(The Super Bowl Tournament is a single elimination
tournament. Win and you move on, lose and
you're eliminated. Higher seed means you have
home field advantage and advance in case of a tie.
Note: Final tournament brackets are no longer set
but adjusted each week so lowest seed plays highest seed.)
RESULTS AND COMMENTARY--
Super Bowl XIII Match (Week 16):
New Champion: Rad Dad has won the 2011 Super Bowl Championship. The Super Bowl Championship match proved to be anticlimatic and lacked drama of any kind, with Rad Dad easily dismissing Pider Man 19-3. It seems that the pressure of the moment overtook Pider Man and caused him to make his worst picks of the year on the week of this match. Meanwhile, Rad Dad didn't have his best week either, but still put together enough Points to easily dominate this match and cruise to victory. Even with his loss, Pider Man still can hold his head up high, because he has reached 2 of the last 3 Super Bowl finals. He is surely due for a win and a championship trophy in the near future. Meanwhile, Rad Dad, in only his third ever Super Bowl Tournament had a tournament to remember. The key to his entire Super Bowl Tournament success started way back in the Head to Head regular season. Rad Dad proved to be one of the most consistent players and was the Division One champion with a 7-3 record. That allowed him to lock up the No. 2 seed which secured him home field advantage (once No. 1 seed Double-Double lost) throughout the tournament. Without that high seed, Rad Dad wouldn't have gotten very far, because in the Wild Card Round he ran into division rival AnnieSweetSweet and they battled it out to a 15-15 tie. Rad Dad was able to advance as the higher seed. Then, in the Divisional Round, Rad Dad met his match once again with a highly motivated and well playing MJD Hogg who scored a huge 28 Points. How do you beat somebody who scores so many Points in a week? As Rad Dad showed, it was simple. Just go out and be the MVP for the week with 33 Points and then nobody can beat you. The Conference Round proved to be sweet revenge for Rad Dad, as he was able to defeat Bob Swerski 16-10 in a rematch of their Conference final from two years earlier. And that brought us to the Super Bowl final, which wasn't exactly thrilling, but it was more of a celebration for Rad Dad's great Head to Head season. Congrats to Rad Dad on being our new champion.

What's at stake: A spot in The Football Club Hall of Fame as the 2011 Super Bowl Champion.
Super Bowl Tournament history: This season's Super Bowl Championship match between Pider Man and Rad Dad promises to be a great one. Both players really set themselves apart this season with really strong winning records in Head to Head matches. Pider Man had 9 wins and 4 losses, while Rad Dad had 10 wins and 3 losses. Let's start by taking a look back at each player's history in the Super Bowl Tournament. This is the 7th Super Bowl Tournament that Pider Man has played in. His results have been-- First Round (2005), First Round (2006), Wild Card Round (2007), Wild Card Round (2008), Super Bowl Final (2009), and Divisional Round (2010). As you can see, there has been a steady improvement in the play of Pider Man, especially in the last 3 seasons. As for Rad Dad, his results have been-- Conference Round (2009) and Wild Card Round (2010). It might be hard to believe, but Rad Dad is only a third year player. It seems like he has been around forever, especially since he picks so well on a consistent basis. But it's that 2009 result in his rookie season that really stands out, back when Rad Dad won the Rookie of the Year Award. Rad Dad reached the Conference final that season, but was beaten by fellow rookie Bob Swerski 12-8. Two years later, Rad Dad finally had a chance to get revenge. And he did. He turned the tables on Bob Swerski and beat him 16-10 to advance to the Super Bowl final. And with both Pider Man and Rad Dad advancing to the Super Bowl title game, that means we will have a first-time Super Bowl Champ. In looking back through the club archives, it is evident that there is not much history between these two players. But they have met twice before in Head to Head Weekly play. This season, Pider Man def. Rad Dad 19-17 back in Week 6. And in 2009, Pider Man def. Rad Dad 29-16 in Week 7. Those results give a slight mental edge to Pider Man, because Rad Dad knows that he has never been able to beat Pider Man before. That could weigh in the back of his mind and potentially cause him to make one or two bad picks. But evening out the match, Rad Dad has played slightly more consistent this season, chalking up one more win and being the higher seed. And Pider Man knows all too well that a tie can be a horrible result if you are the lower seed. Pider Man found that out two years ago in the 2009 Super Bowl final, when he tied Bob Swerski 19-19 but lost since he was the lower seed. So I'm sure that Pider Man also feels a little bit of extra pressure, knowing that he must win this match, he can't tie it. Because a tie would be devastating for him. Rad Dad has already had one tie in this tournament, when he tied AnnieSweetSweet 15-15 in the Wild Card Round and advanced as the higher seed. Although he would no doubt prefer to win the match outright, Rad Dad is willing to do whatever it takes to become the next Super Bowl Champion. So he will take a tie if necessary. And that's something that Pider Man will be looking to avoid. One short week from now, we will find out who is our 2011 Super Bowl Head to Head Champion.
