    Super Bowl IX Champ Eastside Brewer (9-4-1)

(The Super Bowl Tournament is a single elimination tournament.  Win and you move on, lose and
you're eliminated.  Higher seed means you have home field advantage and advance in case of a tie.
However, even though you advance, you receive no bonus Points for the week if you tie.)
 

RESULTS AND COMMENTARY--

Super Bowl IX Match (Week 16):

Title defense:  Eastside Brewer wins back to back Super Bowl championships as he wins Super Bowl IX by scoring a historic tie 20-20 with Double-Double.  Eastside Brewer was leading by 5 Points after the Sunday games were completed.  Then, Double-Double took the lead by 1 Point when Philadelphia defeated Dallas in the NBC game.  Finally, Eastside Brewer tied the match for good when Miami and NY Jets scored only 23 points, giving Eastside 1 Point with the Over/Under being Under.  Thus, Eastside Brewer is crowned as the champion by virtue of home field advantage and having the higher seed.

What's at stake:  A spot in The Football Club Hall of Fame as the 2006 Super Bowl Champion and 2 Bonus Points.
Head to Head history:  Players have never met in the Super Bowl Tournament before.  The only known match that
has ever been played was in 2003 Head to Head Weekly play, where The European def. The Rickster 25-22.  These two
players also share a unique history as they were teammates together (along with 2006 Hall of Fame Veteran Inductee
Bumpskier) on the Pro Bowl team Sonoma Express in 2000.

Conference Round Matches (Week 15):

Conference one champ:  Double-Double wins this chapter in his rivalry with Hoosier Daddy 28-23
History repeats:  Eastside Brewer earns a chance to defend his Super Bowl title by beating The Transporter 29-24.

Divisional Round Matches (Week 14):

Battle of the daddies:  Hoosier Daddy beats Shelby's Dad 18-11to win the daddy rivalry by a touchdown.
Revenge is sweet:  Double-Double avenges last year's tournament loss to Stop the Clocks with a 24-18 win.

Brewing a good batch:  Eastside Brewer dismisses his arch-rival Paperback Writer by a final of 25-17.
Bald tires:  The Transporter gets past teammate Michelin Man 18-14 to reach the Conference Round.

Wild Card Round Matches (Week 13):

Novato's best:  Hoosier Daddy silences Unknown Artist's voice by a touchdown 17-10.
Stopped in his tracks:  Stop the Clocks revokes Bob the Builder's tournament permit by dismantling him 25-8.
Third time the charm:  Double-Double finds a way to beat Generation J-Bird 13-8 in a defensive struggle.
Rookie on fire:  Shelby's Dad defies the experts by stunning Toothbrush Defender 16-10 to advance.

Upset specialist no more:  Paperback Writer stops Mike Z's upset bid by holding him to a field goal 14-3.
Gift wrapped:  Michelin Man only manages 10 Points but advances when The Beav  forfeits the game.
Loss of powers:  The Transporter proves he is stronger than The Six Million Dollar Man 20-14 and moves on.
Battle of the titans:  Eastside Brewer narrowly escapes victorious 20-17 from a historic match with Captain Insano.

First Round Matches (Week 12):

Battle of the rookies:  Shelby's Dad eliminates fellow rookie The Rinator by a final score of 27-17.
Home field advantage:  Double-Double ties Captain Jack Sparrow 26-26, but advances as a higher seed.
She's grounded:  Bob the Builder takes away Scary Lil Ninja Monkey's tournament privileges 22-20.
No sweet tooth:  Hoosier Daddy gives Chokolit Obsessed a bitter-sweet farewell in the First Round 23-14.

Monumental upset:  Mike Z wins only his second match all year and eliminates The Cat by a final of 25-17.
Playing for the tie:  Captain Insano learns how valuable it is to be a higher seed as he ties Roadrunner 21-21 and moves on.
Lowest score of the week:  The Six Million Dollar Man scores a lowly 13 Points, but it's enough to tie Kip Possible and advance.
Younger and wiser:  The Beav pulls out a narrow win over YYZ 22-20 to enter the Wild Card Round.

(Reminder-- First Round winners advance to the Wild Card Round of the tournament, while First Round losers are eliminated from Head to Head competition for the season.  In case of a tie, the higher seeded player advances.)
