Week 5 MVP Award Winner –
MJD Hogg (20 Points)
MJD Hogg has returned to 1st Place once again in the club by scoring 20 Points to win the Week 5 MVP Award. That makes 2 MVP Awards and 3 Weeks at #1 for the hoggster, who has had an utterly dominant first 1/3 of the season. So how did MJD go hog wild when an astounding ten club members were stuck in the single digits on a difficult week? He made some key picks that very few others got right, such as both Games of the Week (only 3 other players managed that), the Double Stakes (only 3 others players got that), and Carolina in the Regular Game (while 8 players sunk their weeks with Miami TJ and -2 Points). And now that MJD Hogg has received a shoutout from Coach Jon Gruden, he just might be able to keep up the strong momentum he currently has going for him. Of course, the others who received mentions by Coach Gruden included Stinkerbell, the wife of My Wife Loves Jimmy G, Mr. T, Captain Insano, and Captain Jack Sparrow. Many club members found Coach Gruden’s speech to the club highly motivating. It was almost like we all received our own locker room pep talk. This week, we will find out which player responds the best to Coach and goes out and posts a strong performance. And we just might have another NFL-related person stop by the club later this season to check up on how everyone is doing. (If you missed Coach Gruden’s speech, it is posted here on the Main Page two posts down.) The Week 5 MVP Award Runner-Up was claimed by Mr. T, who scored 19 Points and moved up into 2nd Place. Mr. T’s claim to fame was being 1 of only 2 players (along with Double-Double) to correctly pick Jax over KC on the Monday night game, thereby scoring the big 6 Point prize. In looking at the updated statistics, it is notable that five club members still have not claimed any 6 Point games for the entire season. That means they are all 0-5 at picking that one. And we need to give a word of encouragement to Rad Dad. Rad Dad may have been the first club member in history to end the week with -1 Points. He only got one game correct with Minnesota but then he promptly lost that Point when he picked Miami with Triple Jeopardy. I took a moment to add up Rad Dad’s potential score if he had just picked everything opposite of what he did. And Rad Dad would have ended up with 29 Points for the week and been the runaway MVP Award winner. Tough break, but hang in there Rad Dad. We are all sure you will rebound strongly this week. The Current Top Five consists of #1 MJD Hogg (3 weeks at #1), #2 Mr. T (11 Points back), #3 My Wife Loves Jimmy G (12 Points back), and tied for #4 Captain Jack Sparrow & Roadrunner (19 Points back).
