“Bob Swerski delivers a huge 30 Points to win Week 3 MVP!”

Week 3 MVP Award Winner –
Bob Swerski (30 Points)

After the big win by the Chicago Bears last weekend, coach Ben Johnson was fired up in his postgame locker room speech.  He could be seen handing out a game ball to Caleb Williams for his 142.6 passer rating.  Next, he could be seen handing a second game ball out to Tremaine Edmunds for his two interceptions.  After the cameras were turned off, rumor has it that he also handed out a third game ball to Bob Swerski, who scored 30 Points to win the Week 3 MVP Award.  It was a huge week that Bob Swerksi badly needed, after he started this season (much like his Chicago Bears) struggling, but has now turned things around mightily.  Bob Swerksi has jumped up six spot in the standings, now sitting in 12th Place.  Let’s see if he can keep up the momentum this week.  The Week 3 MVP Award Runner-Up was My Wife Loves Jimmy G for the second time already this season.  He scored 28 Points, which has closed the First Place gap to a mere 2 Points.  A couple weeks ago, I had talked about how My Wife Loves was determined not to have a slow start to this season, and he has once again backed up his words with a strong showing.  I guess he will have bragging rights at tomorrow night’s meeting (not really, that’s just a joke).  In looking back at last week, a few players also really stood out.  Only three players managed to pick both Games of the Week correct with Chicago and SF:  Bob Swerski, Captain Insano & Drummer Boy.  Also, only one player correctly picked Detroit over Baltimore on Monday night and got the 6 Points:  Roadrunner.  As far as the current Top Five goes, it is #1 MJD Hogg (2 Weeks at #1), #2 My Wife Loves Jimmy G (2 Points back), #3 Roadrunner (10 Points back), and tied #4 Captain Insano & Mr. T (12 Points back).  There is also something called the Drummer Boy watch, which consists of keeping an eye on how he is doing every week.  Don’t look now, but he is only 3 Points away from getting back into the Top Five.

“MJD Hogg takes control of the club with the Week 2 MVP!”

Week 2 MVP Award Winner –
MJD Hogg (33 Points)

As the dust settled from Week 2, one of our longest-playing veterans has stepped up to take over control of the club.  MJD Hogg scored 33 Points to win the Week 2 MVP Award and move into 1st Place, with a huge 7 Point lead over the next-closest player.  MJD has had an extremely dominant first two weeks, the likes of which have rarely been seen.  In Week 2, he claimed both Games of the Week, the Double Stakes, and the Triple Crown.  He also wisely avoided a trap that ensnared 9 other players — and that was the Pittsburgh Triple Jeopardy trap.  That trap is set once again this week.  It will be interesting to see who falls into it.  As for MJD Hogg, he is replicating the early season success that he had last year.  In 2024, he began the season with three consecutive weeks at #1 before ultimately falling off.  So he is known to be a fast starter.  Let’s see if he can keep the momentum longer this season and continue making great picks on into the middle of the season.  Also, for four straight years now, MJD has claimed 2+ MVP Awards per season.  He only needs one more MVP this season to make that five straight years of 2+ MVPs.  I’m sure that is a streak that many of us wish we could duplicate.  The Week 2 MVP Award Runner-Up was Mr. T.  Mr. T scored 30 Points on what proved to be a somewhat difficult week for many players.  Mr. T has long since abandoned his strategy of social distancing from winning, and he showed that again last week.  Along with MJD, Mr. T was the only other player in the club to claim both Games of the Week, the Double Stakes, and the Triple Crown.  He has now moved up into 3rd Place and is starting to think about what a second Rhapsody Ralph trophy would look like on his mantle.  Going back to Triple Jeopardy for a moment, we have to give a shoutout to New York City Sewer Rat, who was the only player in the entire club to correctly pick Seattle with TJ.  Well done, Rat, that was a brilliant pick.  As our Top Five continues to take shape, we currently have #1 MJD Hogg, #2 My Wife Loves Jimmy G (7 Points back), #3 Mr. T (10 Points back), and tied for #4 Captain Insano & Roadrunner (12 Points back).  See you back on the field, everyone, as we look forward to Week 3.
