Week 16 MVP Award Winner –
Bob Swerski (34 Points)

Loyal supporter of Da Bears Bob Swerski scored 34 Points last week to win the Week 16 MVP Award for the Super Fans.  At a press conference after the match, Bob Swerski said: “I’m speaking from Chicago, Illinois, birth place of the Baby Back Rib and home to a certain great team which come next season will be hoisting a certain Super Bowl trophy over its head.  A team that is known as Da Bears!  In the meantime, this MVP Award will have to do.”  But in taking a look at his picks for last week, perhaps Bob’s key pick that separated him from the Runner-Up was picking against his team Chicago.  By picking Buffalo to cover the spread over Da Bears, Bob got 2 Points that the Runner-Up did not.  His great week has put Bob Swerksi in prime position to potentially finish in the Top Ten at the end of the season, if he can make up a 12 Point deficit in the next two weeks.  The Week 16 MVP Award Runner-Up was none other than The Sad Salmon.  The Sad Salmon went home sad after attending the Miami Dolphins home game last week against Green Bay.  But he was no doubt happy to see that the Dolphins still hold prime position for the #7 seed in the AFC Playoffs if they can win out.  By scoring 33 Points last week, The Sad Salmon has made up another 4 Points in the standings and now stands only 16 Points away from 1st Place in the club.  In a span of 2 weeks, he has now moved up from 13th Place to 10th Place to 6th Place.  We will soon find out if he can keep up the momentum and finish in the Top Five or ultimately as the Club Champion.  Speaking of the Top Five, #1 player Roadrunner held onto the top spot for a 5th consecutive week.  He currently leads #2 player My Wife Loves Jimmy G by 4 Points, #3 player Rad Dad by 9 Points, and tied for #4 players Mr. T & Stinkerbell by 15 Points.  Roadrunner’s 4 Point lead is similar to the leads held by other 1st Place players after Week 16 over the past four years.  In 2021, Drummer Boy held a 1 Point lead.  In 2020, Mr. T held a 12 Point lead.  In 2019, Halibut J-Bird held a 1 Point lead.  And in 2018, Double-Double held a 4 Point lead.  Will Roadrunner speed off to victory and pass the checkered flag in 1st Place to put Plymouth in the winner’s circle?  Or will his engine blow a gasket during the final 2 laps to crash into the wall of disappointment?  We will soon find out as the last 2 laps (or weeks) play out.  It would be impressive if Roadrunner could hold onto the lead and take a victory lap while holding the Rhapsody Ralph Trophy out the window.

The Super Bowl Championship match between The Sad Salmon and Rad Dad is going to be an epic battle for the ages between two of the strongest players in the league this season.  It will be a fitting conclusion to the shortened Head to Head season as the current #3 and #6 players in the club collide with so much on the line.  These two players have both had a lot of success in Head to Head play as well as during past Super Bowl Tournaments.  Rad Dad, the #7 seed this season, won the Super Bowl Championship in 2011 when he crushed Runner-Up Pider Man 19-3.  And The Sad Salmon, the #9 seed, made the Super Bowl Final last season in 2021.  He only lost to Bob Swerski 11-9 as a result of incorrectly picking Triple Jeopardy and having a penalty flag thrown which cost him -2 Points from his final score.  But here we are one year later and he is back in the final once again.  In looking at Super Bowl Tournament results for this season, how do these two great players stack up?  In the Wild Card Round, The Sad Salmon started out by getting revenge for his loss to The Rickster in the tournament 2 years ago by a score of 22-20.  This time the result was different, as The Sad Salmon flipped the script and def. The Rickster 16-14.  Meanwhile, Rad Dad knocked off last year’s Club Champion Drummer Boy 18-10.  That win definitely made waves in the club and caused everyone to stand up and take notice.  In the Divisional Round, The Sad Salmon def. Nighthawk 34-17 by doubling his score.  And Rad Dad def. Bob Swerski 19-9 to knock the defending Super Bowl Champ out of the tournament by a touchdown and a field goal.  So for Rad Dad, that was two matches and two defending champions eliminated.  That brings us finally to the Conference Round which took place last week.  If you look at the results for both players, they are eerily similar.  The Sad Salmon def. Hoosier Daddy 33-26 and Rad Dad def. My Wife Loves Jimmy G 32-26.  You can’t get much closer than that when it comes to results.  It is really hard for me to pick a potential winner in this match when we have an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object.  As with the Super Bowl Final last season, this match could once again come down to who does (or who doesn’t) pick Triple Jeopardy, and whether or not they are right or wrong.  It could also come down to whether or not The Sad Salmon’s Dolphins win and whether or not Rad Dad’s 49ers can cover the spread.  Because it is highly likely that both will pick their favorite teams to win.  Or maybe they will take a page from Bob Swerski’s playbook last week and pick against their teams.  We will have to wait and see.  It sure will be interesting to see what happens and who becomes the 2022 Super Bowl Head to Head Champion.

Week 15 MVP Award Winner –
The Sad Salmon (34 Points)

Miami resident and big time Dolphins supporter The Sad Salmon scored 34 Points last week to win the Week 15 MVP Award.  This is his league leading 3rd MVP Award of the season.  And with 3 weeks left in the season, he still has a chance to equal or surpass Slick Chick’s Hall of Fame record of 5 MVP Awards in a Season (set in 2010).  The Sad Salmon got his MVP Award last week by picking everything correct except for 3 games.  The Sad Salmon no doubt dedicated this win to his wife Viking Blood in appreciation for the sign she made for him at the football game.  Having such a huge week has sent The Sad Salmon back into the Top Ten.  He now stands 20 Points out with 3 weeks to play.  That may sound insurmountable but keep in mind that a week ago he was 35 Points out.  So he made up 15 Points in a single week.  That being the case, 20 more Points in the next 3 weeks is not out of the question when he is picking lights out at such a high level.  The Week 15 MVP Award Runner-Up was My Wife Loves Jimmy G, who scored 30 Points and has his own sights set on becoming this year’s Club Champion.  My Wife Loves Jimmy G only missed 4 games last week as he too has stepped up in a big way.  And this has really shaken up the Top Five.  In fact, we could say it has shaken up the entire Top Ten.  Literally anyone in that group could have a couple big weeks and walk away as the 2022 Football Club Points Champion and raise the Rhapsody Ralph trophy at the end of the season.  #1 player Roadrunner held onto the top spot for a fourth consecutive week.  However, his hold on 1st Place has become quite precarious.  And that is because #2 player My Wife Loves Jimmy G has closed the gap from 12 Points to just 1 single Point.  There is no more margin for error if Roadrunner hopes to keep riding ahead of the pack with the trophy in his passenger seat.  He’s going to need to step up with some better picks this week.  #3 player Mr. T had a huge week as well with 29 Points, which has pulled him to within 9 Points of reaching the top.  And #4 Rad Dad currently sits at 12 Points back.  But it’s the next five positions in the Current Standings which reveals something shocking.  The players from 5th Place through 9th Place are currently in a major logjam, all being separated by only 1 Point.  This includes Double-Double, The Rickster, a resurgent Drummer Boy, Hoosier Daddy & Stinkerbell.  Which one of these five great players will break through this week and become a serious contender for the club title?

The Divisional Round of the Super Bowl Tournament took place last week and we had some interesting results.  In a sad result for the Tuna family, (2) Hoosier Daddy ties (21) Young Tuna 18-18 to advance.  The amazing thing about this result is that Hoosier Daddy has reached the final four in the Conference Round without winning a single match.  He has advanced as the higher seed after two ties.  But that’s the reward for earning a higher seeding, which he worked hard to obtain by picking so well throughout the season.  However, Hoosier’s brother will not be joining him as (5) My Wife Loves Jimmy G def. (17) MJD Hogg 30-22.  In the third match, (7) Rad Dad def. (15) Bob Swerski 19-9.  And in the fourth match, our MVP (9) The Sad Salmon def. (11) Nighthawk 34-17.  With that, the final four is set with two matches in the Conference Round this week.  We have (9) The Sad Salmon at (2) Hoosier Daddy and (7) Rad Dad at (5) My Wife Loves Jimmy G.  We know how badly The Sad Salmon is hoping to win and potentially get revenge against My Wife Loves Jimmy G in the Super Bowl final (for him beating Viking Blood earlier in the tournament).  But I’m sure that Hoosier Daddy and Rad Dad will have a thing or two to say about who ultimately reaches the championship match.  One thing we can be sure of is that these will be two great matches this week in the Conference Round.  One of these four players – The Sad Salmon, Hoosier Daddy, Rad Dad or My Wife Loves Jimmy G – will become the Super Bowl Champion once Week 16 concludes a couple of weeks from now.
