“Captain Jack Sparrow finds treasure with the Week 10 MVP!”

Week 10 MVP Award Winner –
Captain Jack Sparrow (24 Points)

Captain Jack Sparrow became the first player to win three MVP Awards this season as he scored 24 Points to claim the Week 10 MVP.  By doing so, he solidified his hold on 1st Place as the Black Pearl left all other competitors in its wake.  Captain Jack told those behind him in the standings: This is the day you will always remember as the day you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow.”  After collecting his MVP Award, he added: “Not all treasure is silver and gold, mate.”  Captain Jack’s key pick was Houston over Jax in the first Game of the Week, a game that only four total club members picked correctly (including The Rickster, Nighthawk & Rad Dad).  Captain Jack now holds a commanding 13 knotI mean 13 Pointlead in the standings.  The Week 10 MVP Award Runner-Up was shared by Hoosier Daddy & Rad Dad.  Both players have been treading water near the bottom of the standings for most of the season, so it was good to see their really strong performances.  A couple more solid weeks and they could potentially contend for a Top Ten finish this season.  Hoosier Daddy was 1 of only 2 players in the entire club to correctly pick the difficult Triple Crown of NO-Balt-Chi (the other was Roadrunner).  Rad Dad somehow figured out that Houston would beat Jax despite not having their starting QB playing.  We also need to give a shoutout this week to three brilliant players: NYC Sewer Rat (who is giving the Treasures talk on JW stream this week), Bob Swerski, and My Wife Loves Jimmy G.  All three players picked NYJ with Triple Jeopardy and scored 2 Bonus Points.  They all sat back and laughed as nine players crashed and burned by picking Cleveland with TJ.  The current Top Five consists of #1 Captain Jack Sparrow (3 Weeks at #1), #2 Captain Insano (13 Points back), #3 Drummer Boy (14 Points back), #4 Stinkerbell (17 Points back), and tied for #5 Fearless Tuna & Mr. T (18 Points back).

The Club’s Week 10 Picks

Here are the club’s picks for Week 10.  Captain Jack Sparrow wins the Week 10 MVP Award with 24 Points, while Hoosier Daddy & Rad Dad share the MVP Award Runner-Up with 22 Points.

“Roadrunner uses NOS to win the Week 9 MVP!”

Week 9 MVP Award Winner –
Roadrunner (29 Points)

Roadrunner became the third player this season to win 2 MVP Awards, as he scored 29 Points to drive off with the Week 9 MVP.  Although his steering has been a bit erratic over the past few weeks, Roadrunner used his special mixture of NOS to boost his engine speed so that he could cross the finish line of Week 9 with the MVP.  Roadrunner’s NOS mixture didn’t involve injecting nitrous oxide, but rather injecting great picks in the form of the super challenging Triple Crown of SF-Pit-LAC and both Games of the Week with Denver & Buffalo.  Three of those five picks were considered minor upsets by the “experts”, who were all left in the dust by Roadrunner.  Now, Roadrunner is only 2 Points away from speeding back into the Top Ten.  The Week 9 MVP Runner-Up was Stinkerbell, who scored 28 Points on what proved to be a difficult week for many club members.  Like Roadrunner, Stinkerbell was another one of the eight club members to get both Games of the Week correct.  Stinkerbell has now won back-to-back Runner-Up MVPs.  With that, she finds herself in the Top Five for the first time this season, reaching  a new peak position after previously topping out in 7th Place.  Last week, I talked about how happy she must have been to only be 16 Points out of 1st Place.  Well, now she is only 10 Points out of 1st Place.  And so the pressure builds.  Speaking of Stinkerbell, we have to give a shout-out to the three players who are all 4-0 at picking Triple Jeopardy.  Along with her, they include two of her three favorite club members:  Double-Double and Nighthawk (only Bob Swerski is missing, who is still blaming her for his bad pick of Miami last Thursday night).  Captain Jack Sparrow has been named the October Player of the Month Award winner.  The good Captain would not be denied the honor, as he logged 2 Weeks at #1 and 1 MVP Award Runner-Up.  Captain Jack’s ship the Black Pearl is considered “nigh uncatchable” and is the only ship that can outrun the Flying Dutchman.  But currently, it is also outrunning the entire rest of the club.  However, there are numerous players in hot pursuit, all within striking distance.  As we stand right now at the halfway point in the season, this is one of the closest races for the Club Championship that we have ever seen.  For example, the player who is currently in 14th Place, who is upset specialist My Wife Loves Jimmy G, is still only 26 Points out of 1st Place.  That’s just two MVP-caliber weeks away from catching up.  Quite amazing and good to see, as it ensures things will stay interesting during the second half of the season.  The Current Top Five consists of #1 Captain Jack Sparrow (2 Weeks at #1), #2 Captain Insano (5 Points back), #3 Fearless Tuna (6 Points back), #4 Drummer Boy (7 Points back), and tied for #5 Mr. T & Stinkerbell (10 Points back).
