Pro Bowl XVII Match (Week 16):

Rookie Team Champions – The Gridiron Guardians have stunned the entire club by defeating McTriple Play 84-72 to claim the 2020 Pro Bowl team championship!  Despite being heavy underdogs, The Gridiron Guardians capped off their dream run through the tournament by knocking off the #1 seeds, after having knocked off the #2 seeds last week.  Teammates Badwater Nessie, Mr. T: SDFW & Rad Dad all contributed to the victory.  But the teammate who stepped up the most had to be Rad Dad.  Rad Dad simply would not let his team lose in the tournament.  During the past 2 weeks, he delivered some positively stunning MVP picks to carry his team to victory.  Not only was Rad Dad the MVP last week (32 Points) during the Final Four match, but Rad Dad went back-to-back and also won the MVP this week (35 Points) during the Pro Bowl final.  With huge Points contributions like that, it makes a team very hard to beat.  The Gridiron Guardians also happen to have the club’s #1 player Mr. T: SDFW on their squad.  Mr. T added a solid 26 Points of his own to his team’s total score.  And bottom-dweller Badwater Nessie rose to the surface to contribute 23 Points as well.  Combining their scores, The Gridiron Guardians proved to be too strong to beat.  Even so, it was a narrow 12 Point margin of victory for the new Pro Bowl champs.  McTriple Play was intent on winning their first team title, so they weren’t going to go down easy.  In fact, teammate Bob Swerksi contributed 28 Points to his squad as the MVP Award Runner-Up.  Nighthawk added 26 Points, which was also solid.  But Stinkerbell was only able to come up with 18 Points.  Still a respectable score for the week, but not enough to help carry her team to victory.  Both teams are to be congratulated on making it to the Pro Bowl final, as that is not easy.  Four other teams can only wish they had made it that far.  But the victory and trophy goes to The Gridiron Guardians, our 2020 Pro Bowl Team Champs!  This marks the first time for all three individual teammates – Badwater Nessie, Mr. T: SDFW & Rad Dad – that they have won any type of championship in The Football Club.

What’s at stake:  A spot in The Football Club Hall of Fame as the 2020 Pro Bowl Team Champions.

Pro Bowl Tournament history: The 2020 Pro Bowl Team Championship match is a showdown between an all-star family team and a newly-formed rookie team.  Both teams won and survived their Final Four matches by margins of 6 Points, with (1) McTriple Play def. (6) Wild Animals 76-70 and (4) The Gridiron Guardians def. (2) The Supernovas 82-76.  This year marks the third season of play for McTriple Play‘s squad made up of Bob Swerski, Nighthawk & Stinkerbell.  During both of their previous seasons together in 2018 & 2019, McTriple Play made it to the Final Four before losing and being eliminated.  But looking farther into the past, Nighthawk actually formed the legendary team Victorious Secret back in 2008 along with Dark Knight & Shelby’s Dad.  That team was so good that they went on to win the 2008 Pro Bowl title.  One year later, they added Bob Swerski to the team (replacing Shelby’s Dad) and repeated as champions when they won the 2009 Pro Bowl title.  So you could say that the team McTriple Play is made up of championship pedigree.  McTriple Play’s team has a very special aspect to it, being that all members are part of the same family.  And they have been by far the best Pro Bowl team this season, clinching the #1 seed in the tournament by winning the most games in the league.  Teammates Bob Swerski, Nighthawk & Stinkerbell would love nothing more to raise the winner’s trophy in behalf of Baby Hazel.  To do so, McTriple Play will have to find a way to beat the gritty team of The Gridiron Guardians.  The Gridiron Guardians are captained by #1 club player Mr. T: SDFW, who delivered outstanding picks to help lead his team to victory in both the First Round and Final Four.  But teammate Rad Dad also stepped up in a major way last week, as he was the Week 15 MVP and donated 32 Points to his team’s upset victory over defending champions The Supernovas.  Badwater Nessie is the most unpredictable member of the team, but even he has surfaced to claim 2 MVP Awards this season. These teams met twice in the Pro Bowl Team Weekly regular season, with McTriple Play winning both matches.  In Week 2, McTriple Play def. The Gridiron Guardians 103-80.  And in Week 5, McTriple Play def. The Gridiron Guardians 59-48.  Can the three unlikely teammates on The Gridiron Guardians come together one more time and provide a shocking upset to win the Pro Bowl Championship?  Or will McTriple Play prove the experts right by winning as they are expected to by many?  We will soon find out which team will be the 2020 Pro Bowl Team Champions.
