Week 5 MVP Award Winners –
My Wife Loves Jimmy G & Nighthawk (28 Points)
Two players stepped up in a huge way last week to claim a share of the Week 5 MVP Award with 28 Points each. The first was My Wife Loves Jimmy G, who was the only player to score Points in each of the major categories including the Double Stakes, a Game of the Week, Sunday night, and Triple Crown. Let’s not forget that just two seasons ago, My Wife Loves Jimmy G finished as the Club Champion Runner-Up to winner Rad Dad, missing the title by a mere 8 Points. With his MVP week, My Wife Loves Jimmy G has placed himself solidly into 2nd Place in the Current Standings. Very impressive, indeed. The second was Nighthawk, a club legend who returned this season to help out the club when he found out we needed an extra player. For that reason alone, Nighthawk deserves to be this season’s winner of the Sportsmanship Award. But he has his sights set on more than that, as he has now climbed the standings into 12th Place. What makes that especially impressive is that when you join the club late, after the season has already started, the rules state you must begin 1 Point behind the Last Place player. With that in mind, you can see that Nighthawk is having a huge impact this season. And last week, Nighthawk was the only player in the entire club to correctly pick both Games of the Week with Houston & Miami. The Week 5 MVP Award Runner-Up was none other than Drummer Boy, who scored 26 Points and narrowly missed a three-peat of MVP Awards, which would have established a new Hall of Fame club record. Only Drummer Boy can miss both Games of the Week and still have a massively high overall score for the week. If that happened to any of the rest of us, we would have flopped and ended with a very low score. I’m not sure how he keeps doing it. A look at the current Top Five reveals #1 Drummer Boy (2 Weeks at #1), #2 My Wife Loves Jimmy G (7 Points back), #3 Mr. T (10 Points back), and tied for #4 Captain Insano & Double-Double (11 Points back). And that wraps up the Main Page column for this week.
