Week 6 MVP Award Winner –
Drummer Boy (41 Points)
Drummer Boy & Bob Swerski posted near-perfect weeks as they both picked 14/14 games correct. As you may know, there have been three Perfect Weeks in club history: 2004 & 2019 by The Rickster and 2012 by The Cat. Drummer Boy & Bob Swerski nearly matched those legendary feats and landed themselves in the Hall of Fame, but they were denied by picking the Over/Under wrong. Even so, it is worth celebrating the accomplishment of both players because they have done the nearly impossible. We are in the 23rd year of the club, so on average a Perfect Week happens once every 7+ years. Drummer Boy scored slightly higher than Bob Swerski as he selected Triple Jeopardy to snag the 2 Bonus Points and the Week 6 MVP Award with 41 Points. Drummer Boy also fell only 1 Point short of another Hall of Fame record which is the Highest Score in a Week, accomplished by Captain Jack Sparrow in 2006 with 42 Points. In addition, he is now 3/5 of the way to matching Slick Chick’s seemingly unbreakable Hall of Fame record of 5 MVP Awards in a season from 2010. As things stand right now, Drummer Boy seems to have broken the club. I’ve never seen a player make such great picks week after week, year after year. He now has a 14 Point lead in 1st Place and the 5th Place player is a staggering 25 Points behind him. There’s not much the rest of the club can do except stand aside and tip their hats (or helmets). Bob Swerski claims the Week 6 MVP Award Runner-Up with 39 Points, which seems a bit unfair when you pick 14/14 games correct. But he is no doubt happy to be all the way up the standings into 6th Place while at the same time watching his Bears win some big games. The current Top Five consists of #1 Drummer Boy (3 Weeks at #1), #2 Captain Insano (14 Points back), #3 My Wife Loves Jimmy G (19 Points back), #4 Double-Double (21 Points back), and #5 Mr. T (25 Points back). It’s also worth noting that the best two players so far this season at picking Triple Jeopardy are Captain Insano & Stinkerbell (both 3-0).
Taking a look at Head to Head Weekly for the first time this season, the division leaders are as follows. Division One: Drummer Boy (4-0), Division Two: MJD Hogg (3-1), Division Three: New York City Sewer Rat (2-1-1), and Division Four: a current three-way tie between The Rickster, Shaylene & Stinkerbell (all 2-2). Over in Pro Bowl Team Weekly, we had some notable results in all three matches last week. In the first match, Daddy & His Boys sent a message to defending champs Wild Animals that they are a serious contender by beating them 93-91 and moving into a 1st Place tie. In the second match, The Gridiron Guardians def. The Hulkamaniacs 92-71, which also allowed them to move into a 1st Place tie. And in the third match, McTriple Play crushed Tuna Generations 105-50, which brought them very close to the all-time Hall of Fame record 112 combined team Points (accomplished by Wild Animals in 2012).
