Week 7 MVP Award Winner –
Stinkerbell (40 Points)
Following on the heels of her husband’s historic 39 Point performance last week, Stinkerbell reclaimed family bragging rights by topping him and scoring 40 Points to win the Week 7 MVP Award. Stinkerbell did this by brilliantly picking 4 games correct that turned out to be upsets (according to oddsmakers). In fact, going into Sunday night, she had a Perfect Week going, giving the club flashbacks to what transpired just last week. She finished out the week by missing the Over/Under and Arizona on Monday night, thus preventing her from claiming what would have been the Highest Score in a Week ever posted with a possible 43 Points. For the second straight week, Captain Jack Sparrow can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that his Hall of Fame record remains safe. The biggest effect of Stinkerbell’s massive week was that she jumped from 7th Place to 2nd Place in the Current Standings. And she went from being 28 Points behind Drummer Boy to being only 4 Points behind him. Now that is a huge jump, the likes of which have rarely been seen in the club. The Week 7 MVP Award Runner-Up was shared between My Wife Loves Jimmy G & Captain Jack Sparrow, who both scored 30 Points. These two players have both been on fire lately and have a lot of momentum as they both charge up the standings. My Wife Loves Jimmy G is now in 3rd Place while Captain Jack Sparrow is in 8th Place. However, as recently as Week 3, Captain Jack was in Last Place in the club. So this has been quite the turnaround. And to think he is now only 13 Points away from getting into the prestigious Top Five. Looking at the Top Five in the Current Standings, we have #1 Drummer Boy (4 Weeks at #1), #2 Stinkerbell (4 Points back), #3 My Wife Loves Jimmy G (5 Points back), #4 Captain Insano (9 Points back), and #5 Double-Double (11 Points back). As you probably noticed, Drummer Boy’s lead has collapsed and he is in danger of falling out of the top spot. That was something unthinkable as recently as last week. But now he faces the tall task of delivering a week of outstanding picks, with pressure closing in on him from all sides. I don’t want to put unfair pressure on him here in this column, so let me just say that I do think he is up to the task. He had an off-week last week, which as one club member told me “proves that he is human”. But I kind of doubt something like that will happen two weeks in a row.
