“Nighthawk flies off with the Week 8 MVP!”

Week 8 MVP Award Winner –
Nighthawk (27 Points)

2008 Club Champion Nighthawk has reclaimed his spot in the Top Ten after a strong 27 Point performance that won him the Week 8 MVP Award.  His Pro Bowl Team was back together last weekend, as Bob Swerksi and Stinkerbell were visiting him in New York, thus reforming McTriple Play in person.  With all teammates present, it inspired Nighthawk to come up with some brilliant picks just when he needed them the most.  With there not being much separation between the Top Ten and Top Five right now, Nighthawk now finds himself a mere 10 Points away from entering the Top Five for the first time this season.  Another strong MVP-caliber performance could help him achieve that.  The Week 8 MVP Award Runner-Up was shared between Drummer Boy, Fearless Tuna & Stinkerbell, who all scored 26 Points.  Drummer Boy has been operating this season without much fanfare.  As a result, the pressure has been off and he has been able to quietly made great picks week after week and rise to 3rd Place in the standings.  He now is just 3 Points away from the top spot.  Does anyone out there really believe that he won’t be in 1st Place next week?  Perhaps Captain Jack Sparrow will have something to say about that and make him walk the plank if he thinks he can catch up.  Fearless Tuna continues his streak of amazing picks.  This is the third straight week in which he has been either the MVP or Runner-Up MVP.  Thus, it is no surprise that he has gone from at one point being 40 Points out of 1st Place to now being only 7 Points out.  It just goes to show that until the very end of the season, nobody is really out of it.  Stinkerbell claimed her second Runner-Up MVP of the season and climbed back up to her peak position of #7.  She is currently tied with her chief rival Double-Double, as both have 164 Points.  Stinkerbell is only 16 Points away from being in 1st Place, which reveals how tight the race for the Club Championship is this season.  She would love nothing more than to become back-to-back Club Champion.  That is a feat that has never before happened, and one that she personally thwarted Drummer Boy from accomplishing last season.  Triple Jeopardy has been shaking up the club a bit this season.  It is interesting to see how some players select it every week, some select it once in a while, and some refuse to select it no matter what.  Double-Double is the best player at picking Triple Jeopardy wisely and correctly this season, sporting a perfect 4-0 record that has brought him 8 Bonus Points.  The big question is when will MJD Hogg, Captain Insano & The Rickster finally take the risk of selecting it this season?  We are all waiting to see if they can pick it right or not.  If you look at the race for #1 and take note of each Top Five player’s Triple Jeopardy records, you can see how MDJ Hogg may have been negatively affected by not ever selecting TJ while those around him are picking it sometimes.  He surely could have used a few Bonus Points here and there to help out.  The Top Five currently consists of brand new #1 Captain Jack Sparrow (1 Week at #1), #2 MJD Hogg (2 Points back), #3 Drummer Boy (3 Points back), #4 Fearless Tuna (7 Points back), and #5 Mr. T (8 Points back).
